GA FURY 16U USFA Class A World Series Champions!

The GA Fury 16 & Under team traveled to Panama City Beach the week of July 17^th  to play in the United States Fast Pitch Association’s Class A 2010 World Series. This tournament began on Monday, July 19^th   with 22 teams playing pool games on Monday and Tuesday. Bracket play began on Wednesday, July 21^st through Saturday, July 24^th. GA Fury won the first three bracket games competing against teams from Alabama and Texas. The Fury lost the fourth bracket game to the Humble Cobras from Texas which placed them in the loser’s bracket. Fury continued playing teams from Alabama, Indiana, Mississippi, and Texas throughout the tournament. After playing six games back to back in the loser’s bracket, GA Fury had to beat the only undefeated team in the tournament twice. GA Fury defeated the Panama City Beach Lightning with the score of 7-6 which resulted in the IF game being played. GA Fury defeated PC Lightning for the World Series championship with a score of 5-1 at 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Pitchers for the tournament were Ashton Holt (Dodge) and Brooke Nail (Appling). Homerun hitters for the tournament were Ashton Holt (Dodge), Lindsey Johnson (Jeff Davis), Lana Maddox (Bleckley), and Sierra McMillan (Jeff Davis). This team is comprised of players from the following counties: Appling, Bleckley, Brantley, Dodge, Jeff Davis, Lee, Toombs, and Wayne.
