Jeff Williams, Sr. age 80 of Baxley, Passed away
Friday, April 20, 2007 at Appling Healthcare System. Mr. Williams was
born February 10, 1927 to the late Harry Oliver and Elizabeth Jewel
Johnson Williams. A native and lifelong resident of Baxley, He was a
member of the Big Oaks Church of God. He was a retired carpenter and was
a member of Carpenters Local 865. He was preceded in death by a brother,
Eugene Williams. Survivors include; Wife, Linda Williams of Baxley, 5
daughters & sons in law, Phyllis Ann & Steve Manning. Jackie and
Aaron Jr. Branch, Christy and Choo Choo Griffin, Cathy & Tony Kirkland
all of Baxley and Cindy & James Blaydoe of Moody, AL; 6 Sons & Daughters
in law, Darrell & Bonnie Williams, Danny & Bridgett Williams, Wayne
Norris, Glynn Williams, Jeff & Patricia Williams all of Baxley, Harry
Lee & Cindy Williams of Brooklet; 3 Sisters, Lillie Maude Barlow of
Baxley, Willie Ina Harper of Fernandina Beach, FL. and Virginia Boyer of
Myrtle Beach, SC.; 1 brother, Richard Williams of Baxley; 28
Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews

Harry Lee “Buddy” Jacobs age 67 of Baxley Passed away on Wednesday,
April 4, 2007 in the Appling Healthcare System after a short illness.
Mr.
Jacobs was born July 4, 1939 in Dock Junction to the late Robert Lee
Jacobs & Edna Ruth Strode Jacobs and has resided in Appling County for
past 3 years. He was a Heavy Equipment Hauler and a member of Zion
Baptist Church. He was a member of Highway 144 Fire Department, Fort
Pierce Moose Lodge, and Acacia Lodge #163 of Stuart Florida & past
Chairman of the Board of Ft. Pierce Assembly #9 Rainbow Girls. Past
member of Ft. Pierce Shrine Club, Amara Shrine Temple, West Palm Beach
Florida, York Rite & Scottish Rite, West Palm Beach Florida. He was
preceded in death by his brother Barry E. Jacobs, Sister Ann Maynard,
brothers in law Danny Maynard & Quinton Chapman, Half brothers Lee
Jacobs & Ervin Jacobs and Precious wife Sylvia Ann Jacobs.
Survivors include his wife Marcie Jacobs of Baxley; daughters & son in
law, LeAnn & John McCartney of Douglas and Jessica Jacobs of Baxley;
Sons and Daughters in law, Lee & Renee Jacobs of Port St. Lucie,
Florida, Louis & Amy Jacobs of Douglas & Lynn Jacobs of Ft Pierce
Florida. Sisters Hattie Ruth Strickland of Commerce & Gladys Chapman of
Port Royal South Carolina; Brother & Sister in law, Bob & Linda Jacobs
of Baxley; Father in law & mother in law Bunnie & Shirley Keen of Ft
Pierce Florida; Brother & Sister in law Gary and Karen Key of Ft Pierce
Florida, Florida and Nancy Jacobs of Baxley; Grandchildren, Evangelina,

Swain Funeral Home. The funeral will be held Friday April 6, 2007 at
11:00 from Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Stone and Rev. Jimmy
Jordan officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Maynard D. Fussell

announces the death and funeral service for Maynard D. Fussell, age
73, who passed away Monday in the Satilla Regional Medical Center in
Waycross after a short illness. He was a native of Jeff Davis
County and had resided in Baxley for the past thirty-two years. He
was self employed and was the owner of City Laundromat in Baxley and
was the former owner of Appling Auto Parts. He was veteran,
serving twenty years in the United States Air Force. He was of
the Baptist faith. He was the son of the late Joe B. Fussell and
Eunice Stokes Fussell.
He is survived by his
wife, Doris Fussell of Baxley: a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and
Donna Fussell of Shelton, Washington: Sisters, Peggy Bracewell of
Baxley, and Catheline Brewer of Lumber City, GA.: a brother, Jesse
Fussell of Arizona: three step-daughters and step sons-in-law, Laura
And Jeff Whitaker of Baxley, Lisa and Lamar Deen of Baxley and
Sherry and Malcolm Evans of Baxley : five grandchildren also
survive.
Visitation will be from 6
to 8 P.M. Thursday at David E. Miles Funeral Home.

held at 2:00 P.M. Friday in the Chapel of David E. Miles Funeral
Home with Rev. Rick Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the
Omega cemetery with military rites.

announces the death and funeral service for Rev. Ovetta B. Clance ,
age 89, who passed away Tuesday at her daughter’s home in Jeff Davis
County. She was a native of Jeff Davis County and had resided in
Appling County for the past forty six years. She was a retired
Church of God Minister and she was a member of the Harvest Temple
Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband Curtis R.
Clance and a granddaughter, Michelle Jackson. She was the daughter
of the late Charlie Buckins and Ella Googe Buckins.
She is survived by two
daughters and a son-in-law, Brenda and Jimmy Turner of Hazlehurst
and Betty Shipes of Baxley: one son and daughter-in-law
Roger and Ruth Clance of Warner Robins, GA.: two sisters, Raine
Clance of Baxley, and Vonell Owins of Hazlehurst: six grandchildren
and 11 great-grandchildren also survive.
Visitation will be from 6
to 8 P.m. Thursday at David E. Miles Funeral Home.

at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Chapel of David E. Miles Funeral Home
with Rev. Earl Wiggins and Rev. Ronnie Rentz officiating. Interment

Hallman
Ruby Youmans Hallman age 85
passed away Saturday, April 7, 2007 at Bethany Nursing Home in
Vidalia after an extended illness. Mrs. Hallman was born
October 1, 1921to the late Edward Joseph and Mamie Davis Youmans.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Appling County where she
was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. She was a retired
teacher and was named teacher of the year in 1989. She was a
lifetime member of the Retired Teacher's Association; a Charter
member of the Historical Society-heritage Center; Daughters of the
American Revolution and served as a Sunday School Teacher for 50
years at Asbury United Methodist Church.
She is survived by Daughters and sons
in law, Bonita & Roy Lewis and Donna and Elton Carter all of Baxley,
Hilda Douglas of Savannah, Son and Daughter in law Glynn and Marie
Hallman of Baxley, Sister and brother in law Doris & Bill Johnson of
Arizona; eleven grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and four
great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6
until 8 pm at Swain Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 9,
2007 at 11:00 am from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev.
Justin McLellan officiating.

Henry
Jackson Teems passed away Monday, April 9, 2007 in the Appling
Healthcare System after a brief illness. Mr. Teems was born June
22, 1910 in Appling County to the late Virgil Clinton Teems & the
late Lucy Hooker Teems. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist
Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent for a number
of years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Teems, Son
Alton Teems, Granddaughter Linda Gruber, Sister, Nolie Mincey,
Willard Shipes, Brother, Fred Teems, Joe , Val, Raymond, and Sam
Beasley.
Survivors include Daughters and son in law, Murle Harrison, Mozell &
George Crosby & Jackie Stewart of Baxley. Rose Easters of
Jacksonville; Sons, Clinton Teems of Beach and Larry Teems of
Marianne. Sisters & brother in law Lucy Teasley of Riverdale,
Maxine Branch of Fayetteville & Betty & Lavale Carter of Hilliard.
Sisters om law, Rose Switzer Christine Hutcheson & Jeanette Beasley;
Brother in law Henry Hutcheson, nieces & nephews, Bobbie Ett & David
Murrey & Bill & Dorothy Mincey. 9 grandchildren and 13 great

Virginia Brown Odom
Virginia Brown Odom age 72 passed away Wednesday April 11, 2007 at
her residence. She was a native of Dodge County and was born
June 18, 1934 to the late William Wesley Brown and the late Annie
Elizabeth Cason Brown.
Survivors include: Daughter, Fay Odom of Cedar Crossing; Son,
Wesley Odom of Baxley; Sister, Jessie Taylor of Baxley; Brother,
David Black of Albany. Seven grandchildren and numerous great
grandchildren also survive.
Visitation will be Friday, April 13, 2007 2:00 until 4:00 at Swain
Funeral Home.
Memorial services be held Friday, April 13, 2007 at 4:oo pm from the
chapel of Swain Funeral Home with the Rev. Barry Teustch
officiating.

Elizabeth H. Crosby, age
86, died Friday, April 13, 2007 in the Appling Health Care
System. She was a native of Appling County and had lived here
most of her life. She was a retired Licenses Practical Nurse
and had been employed at Gracewood in Augusta, Ship and Shore
Manufacturing, Appling General Hospital, Dr. White and Dr.
Omarker before her retirement . She was a member of Dunn
Memorial Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her
husband, George W. Crosby and was the daughter of the late Jim
Hopkins and Gertrude Beecher Hopkins.
She is survived by a
son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Karren-Lee Crosby of Port St.
Lucy, FL. a grandson, Kyle Crosby of Washington D.C. and a
granddaughter, Kristin Kowalewski of Port St. Lucy, FL: two
sisters, Lucille Davis of Baxley and Lorene Woods of Baxley: and
several nieces and nephews also survive.
Memorial services
will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday at Dunn Memorial Baptist Church
with Rev. Jack Peeler and Rev. Rick Brown officiating.
Interment will be private.
The family will
assemble at the home of Jason and Stacie Sellers at 1740 Midway
Church Road.

Mary Lee Carter
Kennedy, age 80,died Wednesday, April 11, 2007 in the
Appling Health Care System. She was born August 24, 1926 in
Appling County and had resided in Appling County all of her
life. She was a retired seamstress and had been employed
with Ship and Shore Manufacturing Co. before her
retirement. She was a member of Friendship Congregational
Church. She was preceded in death by her husband’s E. W.
Carter and William Kennedy and a son Timothy Michael Carter
She was the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson Johnson and
the late Mary Agnes Crosby Johnson.
She is survived
by three daughters and son’s-in-law, Linda and Earl Ammons
of Baxley, Evone and Truman Bowen of Baxley and Janet and
Wendell Nails of Baxley: four sons, Harold J. And Vickie
Carter of Odum, Larry and Karron Carter of Baxley, Tommy and
Patty Carter of Alma, and Eddie M. and Cathy Carter of
Baxley: a step-daughter, Judy Kennedy of Lyons: a step-son
and step-daughter-in-law, Lewis and Shelia Kennedy of
Baxley: nineteen grandchildren and twenty-five
great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services
were held Friday, April 13,2007 at 11:00 A.M. in Harvest
Chapel Church with Pastor Agnes Sellers and Pastor Randy
Sellers and Rev. Barry Teutsch officiating. Interment
followed in the Zoar Cemetery.
Active
pallbearers were grandsons, Scotty Ammons, Shane Ammons,
Timothy Lanier Carter, Brad Carter, Brent Carter, Eric
Carter, Jason Carter and Shaun White.

pallbearers were all friends attending the funeral service.

Wilbur C. Branch
Wilbur C. Branch age 73
of Baxley passed away on Thursday April 19, 2007 at his
residence. Mr. Branch was born January 2, 1934 to the
late Arthur Bowen Branch and Beulah Miller Branch. He
was a native of Baxley and resided here until 1956. He
lived in Orlando Fla until 2002 when he returned to Baxley
after retiring from United Auto Workers/Daimler Chrysler
Motors Corporation with 30 years of service. He was a
member of Spring Branch Baptist Church and a veteran of the
United States Army and United States Army Reserve having
served during the Cold War. He was preceded in death
by his wife Alice Branch and brothers Percy Branch and David
Branch.
He is survived by a
Daughter and Son in law Le Ann & James Mooneyham; Sisters Le
Alda Ray and Loyce Kimberly both of Baxley and Mary Hyatt of
Evans; Brother Rev. James Branch of Jacksonville;
Grandchildren Susan, Raymond, Jennifer, Annette, JC, Kayla &
Rebecca; Great grandchildren Shayne and Patience; and
numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be
Friday evening from 6-8 pm at Swain Funeral Home.
Funeral services will
be Saturday, April 21, 2007 at 11:00 am from Spring Branch
Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Reagin officiating.
Interment will follow in Carter Cemetery.
