Adrianna Victoria Sharpe
Adrianna Victoria Sharpe, infant daughter of Robert
and Lisa Sharpe, died Thursday, August 2, 2007, in the Medical College
of Georgia. Survivors include her father and mother Robert and
Lisa Sharpe of Baxley. Sister; Abigail Marie Sharpe: Maternal
grandparents; Winnie and Kevin Stephenson; Paternal grandparents Cindy
and John Roberson; Paternal grandfather, Barry Sharpe and special friend
Peggy Lassiter. Maternal great grandparents David and Ann
Stephenson. Paternal great grandmothers Frances Reynolds and Jean
Sharpe. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be Saturday evening from 7 until 9 at
Swain Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Sunday August 5 at 2 p.m.
from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with the reverends Tim Tatum,
Ronnie Renta, and Rick Brown officiating.
Interment will follow in the Asbury United Methodist
Church Cemetery.

Willie Drew Miles Black
Willie Drew Miles Black, age 73, died
Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at her residence after a short illness.
She was born November 3, 1933 in Appling County and had resided here
all of her life. She was retired from the University of Georgia
Cooperative Extension Service where she was employed as a secretary
for thirty-seven years. She was employed with David E. Miles
Funeral Home for the past fourteen years. She was a member of Dunn
Memorial Baptist Church, she was serving on the Board of Directors
of the Visiting Nurses Association and she was a past member and
past president of the Pine Forest Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by a son
Richard Black, a sister, Ouida Miles and a brother, Patrick Miles.
She was the daughter of the late William Bartow Miles and the late
Clyde Neree McClelland Miles.
She is survived by her husband of
fifty-seven years, Lamar Black: a son and daughter-in-law, Bart and
Natalie Black of North Augusta, S.C. : five grandchildren, Michael,
Matthew and Thomas Gilman and Emma Drew and David Black all of
North Augusta, S.C.: two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ruby
and Fran Gegan of Jacksonville, FL and Betty and Carl Adams of
Sadona, AZ.
Funeral services were held Friday,
July 20, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of David E. Miles Funeral
Home with Rev. Rick Brown, Rev. Jack Peeler, Rev. Ron Ross and
Sister Elena Thompson officiating. Interment followed in the Miles
Family Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Michael
Gilman, Stacey Williams, Shane Bookhardt, Randall Odum, Mickey Davis
and James Clark.
Honorary pallbearers were The
Visiting Nurses Associating, Beverly and Wendall Brown, Donna Odum,
Tommy and Libby Ann Horton, Mr. & Mrs. Jimmy Horton and Clayton
Errett.

Blanche C. King
Blanche C. King, age 69,
died Sunday, July 15, 2007 at her residence after a short illness.
She was a native of Bryan County, but had lived in Baxley for most
of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Midway Baptist
Church. She was the daughter of the late Olen C. Carter and the late
Pearl Anderson Carter.
She is survived by her
husband of 53 years, J.W. King of Baxley: four sons and
daughters-in-law, Mike King of Baxley, Mark and Susan King of
Richmond Hill, Matt and Donna King of Richmond Hill, and Jeffery and
Kimberly King of Richmond Hill: three sisters, Myrtle Lee of
Columbus, GA, Carrie Jean Cannon of Dothan, Alabama, and Peggy
McClain of Phoenix City, Alabama: a brother, Olen Lewis Carter of
Baxley: twelve grandchildren, James William King III, Amanda King,
Destiny West, Mica Gunn, Michael King Jr., Dustin King, Amie Santini,
Matthew King, Mallory King, Kerrigan King, Dustin Harrelson, Kilye
Harrelson. Nine great-grandchildren, several neices and nephews also
survive.
Funeral services were
held Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of David
E. Miles Funeral Home with Elder Charles Tyson and Elder Herman
Griffin officiating. Interment followed in the Damascus Primitive
Baptist Church Cemetery in Bacon County.
Active pallbearers were
Dustin King, Trey King, Richie West, Adam Carter, Dustin Harrelson,
Earl Gray Griffin Jr., Ellis T. Carter Jr., and Steven Lashley.
Honorary Pallbearers are
all friends attending the funeral service.

Miles Funeral Home of Hazlehurst
announces the funeral services for Mr. Henry Clay Neesmith, age 43,
of Baxley. Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Thursday in the
Uvalda Church of God .
Rev. Paul Carlson, Rev. Reese Mincey
& Rev. Gilbert Wommack will officiate with burial in the Cedar
Crossing Cemetery in Toombs County.
He was the son of the late Myrtle
Hand Neesmith.
Survivors include: Children Cody Ryan
Neesmith, Brandon Clay Neesmith, and Heather Nicole Neesmith all of
Uvalda; Father Bennie Neesmith of Uvalda; Sisters Vickie Lee
Neesmith of Uvalda and Betty Sue Jillison of Ft. Ripley, Minnesota;
Brother Randy Neesmith of Baxley; 1 Grandson Dalton Neesmith of
Uvalda.
In lieu of flowers the family request
that donations be made to the family.

Bourgoin
Dolores Michele Dunn Bourgoin age 39 of Baxley passed
away Saturday, July 7, 2007. She was born September 2, 1967 in
Augusta, GA to Charles Michael Dunn and Claire Helen Campbell Dunn.
She had lived in Jeff Davis most of her life before moving to
Appling County. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Bourgoin of
Jesup: Daughter & Son in law, Chrystal & Keegan Faught of
Hazlehurst; Mother, Claire Dunn of Hazlehurst; Father, Charles Max
Dunn of Baxley; 2 Sisters, Diane Davis of Baxley & Beverly Allen of
Connecticut;6 Brothers & Sisters in law, Dennis & Barbara Dunn of
Hazlehurst, Stephen & Donna Dunn of Uvalda, Danny & Nora Dunn of
Hazlehurst, Brian & Cindy Dunn of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, George
Davis & Michael Dunn of Snipesville. 1 Grandchild, Konnor Faught of
Hazlehurst. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 11, 2007 from 6 until
8 p.m. at Swain Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday,

Debra "Debbie" Hall Miles, age 45, died Saturday, July
7, 2007. She was born September 6, 1961 in Appling County to
the late Estus Jerome Hall and the late Lucretia Nail Hall.
Survivors include; 1 Daughter, Heather Miles of Baxley;
Sister, Diane Mims-White of Hazlehurst; 1 Granddaughter,
Jaden Trinity Upchurch. 1 Niece, Leah Mims Yawn & 1 Nephew,
Allen Jerome Mims. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 11,
2007 6:00pm -8:00pm at Swain Funeral Home. Funeral Services
will be held Thursday, July 12, 2007 at 3:00pm from the
chapel of Swain Funeral Home. Minister is Rev. Bill Stone,
Interment will be private.

Robert Leggett
Robert Leggett, age 82, died
Saturday, July 7, 2007 in the Appling Health Care after a long
illness.
He was born May 4, 1925 in
Appling County and had lived here all of his life. He was a retired
farmer. He was a member of Red Oak Baptist Church and was a veteran
of the United States Army serving in World War II. He was the
son of the late Lee Leggett and the late Annie Perry Leggett.
He is survived by his
wife Erma Sue Leggett of Baxley: three daughters and sons-in-law,
Polly L. And Tim Flood of Baxley, Patsy L. And Jimmy Sweat of
Richmond Hill and Connie and Tom Sauer of Illinois: two son and
daughters-in-law, Gary V. and Noreen Leggett of Baxley, Robert Lamar
and Delena Leggett of Baxley: a sister, Elwanda Black of Orange
Park, Florida: ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren also
survive.
Visitation will be from
6-8 p.m. Sunday at David E. Miles Funeral Home
Funeral services will be
held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2007 at Red Oak Baptist Church
with Rev Ron Ross and Rev. R. M. Warren officiating: Interment will
follow in the Red Oak Church Cemetery.
The body will be placed
in the church at 10:00 a.m. to lie instate until the funeral hour.

Estelle C. White
Estelle C. White, age 82, died
Monday, July 2, 2007 in the Appling Health Care. She was born
February 9, 1925 in Appling County and had lived here most of her
life. She was a housewife and was the daughter of the late Bryon
Crosby and the late Dollie Walton Crosby.
She is survived by two
sisters and a brother-in-law Lola and George Poole of Baxley and
Willie Mae Lightsey of Savannah: a brother, John L. Crosby of
Surrency and Albert Walton of Pooler, several nieces and nephews
also survive.
Graveside services were
held Wednesday in the Smyrna Cemetery in Toombs County with Rev.
Rick Brown officiating.
Arrangements were under
the direction of David E. Miles Funeral Home.

Mildred Pickren Yawn
Mildred Pickren Yawn, age 83,
died Sunday, July 1, 2007 in the St. Joseph Hospital in Savannah.
She was born November 23,1924 in Baxley, and had resided here all of
her life . She was the owner and operator of the Dinner Bell
Restaurant in Baxley for thirty-five years and she was a member of
Miles Chapel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son,
Darrell Pickren and her husband Mark Pickren. She was the daughter
of the late Alvin Miles and the late Liza Mae Miles.
She is survived by a
daughter and Son-in-law, Marsha Eason Varnadore and Talmadge
Varnadore of Hazlehurst: a sister, Annette Green of Baxley:
Step-sons, Donnie Pickren of Jacksonville, FL and David Pickren of
Baxley: a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, John and Judy Eason
Zapf of Jacksonville, FL: a grandson and granddaughter-in-law,
Steve and Stephanie Eason of Baxley: Seven great-grandchildren, one
great-great-grandchild also survive.
Funeral services were
held Thursday, July 5, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. in the Chapel of David E.
Miles Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Brown and Rev. Doug Weisel
officiating. Entombment will follow in the Omega Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were
Lantz Orvin, Jeffery Bell, Payne Eason, Patrick Miles, Keith Miles,
and Gerald Miles.

Ruth Mincey Miles
Mrs. Ora Ruth Mincey Miles age 77 of
Baxley passed away Monday July 2, 2007 at her residence.
Mrs. miles was born January 27, 1930 in
Appling County to the late James Bruce Beasley and the late Ora Sellers
Baxley. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church where
she fulfilled many positions. She was a Mission worker with the
South Georgia Project of Church and Community Worker, Rochelle, Ga,
charge. She was a faithful member of the Asbury United Methodist
Women. She was a dedicated School Teacher for 35 years at Altamaha
School. A loving Mother, Grandmother, & Great Grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Mincey.
Survivors include a Daughter & Son in
law, Claudia and William Courson of Baxley; Son and Daughter in law,
Charlie and Mandy Mincey of Baxley; Sister, Gwen Upchurch of Baxley;
Grandchildren, Robby & Susan Courson; Archie & Gwen Courson; Casey
Mincey; Shannon Mincey; Great Grandchildren Hannah Courson, Will
Courson, and Nicholas Spell. 9 Nieces and Nephews also survive.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 4,
2007 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Swain Funeral Home. Funeral services
will be held Thursday, July 5, 2007 at 11:00 from Asbury United
Methodist Church with Rev. Ben DeFore officiating. Interment will
follow in the church cemetery. The family will assemble at the
home of William Courson, 860 Lennox Road.

Rev. Braswell Dean
"B.D." Carter, Sr.
Rev. Braswell Dean "B.D." Carter, Sr. age 90 of
Baxley passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2007 in the Appling Healthcare
System.
Brother Carter was born June 8, 1917 in Appling County to
the late William Lewis Carter and the late Addie Carter. He
began preaching September 1947 at Spring Branch Baptist Church and
Old Bethel. Both Churches at that time were part time.
Even after he retired, he still did interim work until 2003. He
began his ministry at Spring Branch Church and 60 years later he is
now a member at Spring Branch Baptist Church. The churches he
pastored are Spring Branch Church, Old Bethel, St. Ella,
Willacoochee, Eastside, and Midway. Interim work included
Spring Branch, Riverside, Ten Mile & West Green.
He was
preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Carter & a son Dean Carter.
Survivors include his wife, Cleo Courson Carter of Baxley; (3)
Children, Roger Carter, Barbara Carter, and Dewayne Carter; 4
Sisters, Alma Beecher of Baxley, Mildred McCowan of Albany, Addie
Belle Gunter of Augusta & Betty Jane Moore of Gaithersburg,
Maryland; 1 Brother, Wilton Carter of Baxley. 7 Grandchildren,
9 Great Grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews also
survive.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 3, 2007 from 6:oo
until 8:oo P.M. at Swain Funeral Home. Funeral services will
be Wednesday July 4, 2007 at 3:oo P.M. from the Spring Branch
Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Reagin, Rev. Rick Brown & Rev. Robert
Wigley officiating. Interment will follow in the Ten Mile
Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will assemble at the
home 601 Omega Cemetery Road Baxley. Swain Funeral Home is in
charge of all funeral arrangements.

Donnie Ruth Mincey age 68 of Baxley,
passed away Saturday, June 30, 2007 in the Appling Healthcare
System. She was born June 12, 1939 in Appling County to the
late C.W. Turner & the late Daisy Maye Thomas Turner.
Survivors include Husband, Cecil Mincey of Baxley; 2 sons & Daughter
in Law, Danny & Stephanie Mincey and Terry Mincey all of Baxley: 3
Sisters, Faye Kroft of St. Cloud, Florida, Wanelle Froehlich of
Hazlehurst & Shirley Maye Skinner of Baxley; Grandchildren, Christy
Mincey, Cecil Lee Mincey & Terry Wayne Mincey.
Visitation will
be Sunday, July 01, 2007 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Swain Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 02, 2007 at 3:00 P.M.
from the chapel of Swain Funeral Home with the Rev. Ben Defore

Calvin R. McKinney
Calvin R.
McKinney, age 74,died Saturday, June 30, 2007 at his
daughter’s residence on Lake Mayers Road. He was
born August 10, 1932 in Wilcox County, Georgia and
had resided in Baxley for the past thirty-three
years. He was self employed and was a retired truck
driver. He was a veteran of the United States Army
and served in the Korean War. He was preceded in
death by his wife, Jewell Dixon McKinney and a
brother, Charles McKinney and was the son of the
late Charlie O. McKinney and the late Mildred Miller
McKinney.
Survivors are two
daughters and son’s-in-law, Sandra and Barry Oakes
of Baxley and Kathy and Stanley Sellers of Baxley:
two sons and daughter-in-law Jeffery and Teresa
McKinney of Waynesville, GA and Russell McKinney of
Augusta: four sisters, Rosalyn Williams, Judy Smith,
Elizabeth Arsenault and Abby Mullis all of
Jacksonville, FL.: one brother, M. D. McKinney of
Appalachicola, FL: ten grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services
were held at 3:00 P.M. Monday in the Chapel of David
E. Miles Funeral Home. Interment followed in the
Beckworth-Swinson Cemetery.
Active pallbearers
were Denny Dixon, Anthony Hitch, Keith Higginbothan,
Edward Overstreet, Bobby Sexton, and Shannon
Arsenault.
Arrangements were
under the direction of David E. Miles Funeral Home.

Hershell “ Junior” Hall
Hershell “ Junior”
Hall, age 77, died Saturday, June 30,2007, in the
Bacon County Hospital after a long illness. He was
born June 13, 1930 in Appling County and had lived
here all of his life. He was a retired painter and
was self employed. He was a member of Faith Baptist
Church and was the son of the late Hershell L. Hall,
Sr. and the late Iola Dyal Hall.
He is survived by four daughter and sons-in-law,
Brenda and Eddie Mobley of Baxley, Linda Rogers of
Baxley, Glenda and Mike Smith of Brunswick and
Sandra Brauda of Pine Grove: two sons and
daughters-in-law, Ricky and Barbara Hall of Baxley
and Randall and Peggy Hall of Baxley: sixteen
grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren also
survive.
Funeral services were held
Monday July 2, 2007, at 11:00 A.M. at David E. Miles
Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Conger officiating.
Interment followed in the Oak View Church Cemetery
in Jeff Davis County..
Active pallbearers were Stacey Mobley, Craig Eason,
Charles Simmons, Jason Kauger, Bobby White and Alan
Brock.
Honorary pallbearers were The
men of Faith Baptist Church.
Musical selections were rendered by Sherry Beach,
Tyler Beach, Floyd Hunter and Chad Hall.
