Sheriff’s Weekly Report

08-18-10---Complainant came to Sheriff’s Office  to report a Runaway Juvenile.

Complainant stated juvenile had left, taken all of her clothes and her whereabouts are unknown.  Juvenile was found by Appling County Investigators and turned over to Juvenile Justice.

08-19-10---Answered a call to Hamm Road in reference to Damage to Property.

Complainant stated several dogs had entered his chicken pen and killed several chickens.

08-20-10---Answered a call to Moody Altman Road in reference to a Domestic Dispute.  Husband and wife had a verbal disagreement. Wife stated she has filed for a divorce.

08-20-10---Answered a call to Evans Lane in reference to a Theft. Complainant stated taken from her residence was approximately $1000.00 worth of jewelry. Complainant stated a family member had access to her bedroom where jewelry was located.

08-20-10---Complainant came to Sheriff’s Office to report a Theft/Tampered Mail, on Ben Carter road . Complainant checked mail and discovered a packaged was opened and contents missing .

08-21-10---Answered a call to Mae Lane in reference to a Theft. Complainant stated taken from his residence was $235.00 in U.S. currency and seven rods and reels valued at $1,155.00.  Investigation Continues.

08-21-10---Answered a call to Roberson Street in reference to a possible DOA.

Neighbor found  Mr. James L. Cason in his residence unresponsive.  Responding officers, and Appling EMS arrived and was unable to find a pulse. Coroner Nick Grimes responded and case was turned over to him for investigation.

08-21-10---Answered a call to Orvin Road in reference to a one-vehicle accident.

No injuries were reported.

08-22-10---Answered a call to Johns Lane in reference to a Domestic Dispute.

Altercation was between boyfriend and father of girlfriend.  Offender left the residence before officers arrived.

08-22-10---Answered a call to Lake Chapel Church Road in reference to Damage to Property.  Complainant stated two neighbor’s dogs came into her yard and attacked her small dog.

08-22-10---Answered a call to Branch Road in reference to an Assault.

Two subjects had an altercation, where one of the subjects was transported to Appling ER for medical evaluation. Offender had left the scene before arrival of officers.   Victim was advised he could secure warrants on the offender.

08-22-10---Answered a call to Central Street in reference to a Domestic.

Complainant stated a person was trying to break into residence. A chase in the woods by responding officer resulted in the arrest of Wilber Lopez age 37 of Baxley.  Lopez was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Obstruction of Officer.

08-22-10---Answered a call to Mincey Lane in reference to a Domestic.

 Upon arrival of Officers, girlfriend was found locked in a bedroom of mobile home for fear of her life. While during a protective sweep of the residence to locate the offender a possible Meth Lab was found. Residence was secured and Altamaha Drug Task Force was notified.  Shannon Lewis age 26 of Baxley was arrested and charged with VGCSA/Methamphetamine, Transactions in Drug Related Objects, Prohibition against Presence of Children during Manufacture of Methamphetamine. Also arrested was David Patrick Mincey, Jr. age 39 of Baxley.  Mincey was charged with VGCSA / Methamphetamine, Prohibition against Presence of Children during Manufacture of Methamphetamine and Simple Battery. Bonds have been denied at this time.

08-23-10---Answered a call to Hill Top Road in reference to an Unruly Juvenile.

Mother stated her twelve year old daughter has been meeting a sixteen year old male. Case was turned over to Juvenile Justice.

08-23-10---Complainant came to Sheriff’s Office to report Forgery.

Complainant stated when receiving bank statement, she found checks to be forged.

Also in checking checkbook, twenty-two checks were found to be stolen. Jonathan Andrew Turner age 21 of Baxley was arrested and charged with two counts of Forgery in the 1^st Degree, Burglary and Probation Violation.

08/25/10---Answered a call to Wayne Jones Road in reference to a Theft.

Complainant stated taken from her mother’s mobile home was a window air condition unit valued at $300.00. Investigation Continues.

08-25-10---Complainant came to Sheriff’s Office to report Financial Card Theft.

Complainant stated a Guitar company called her residence to verify purchase of a Keyboard that had been ordered. Company had her credit card number also. Complainant stated she nor her husband had order a Keyboard.  Investigation Continues.

08-27-10---Answered a call to Acorn Lane in reference to a Domestic.

Dispute was between family members.
